OTHER INFORMATION

Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia

(The Rosicrucian Society of Freemasons)

We all enjoy our Masonry, the ceremonies, the camaraderie of the Social Board and the social events, but is that enough for you? Or are you the kind of Mason who is looking for something more?

Do you have an inquiring mind? Would you/do you, enjoy learning about and discussing the great problems of life, understanding the wisdom of art and literature in the Ancient World and its possible application to our current era? Would you like to expand your knowledge of these matters and discuss them with like minded people?

If you are that kind of Mason why not become a member of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia (S.R.I.A.)

The S.R.I.A is an independent Christian Society: all its members being Master Masons of Lodges recognized as regular by the United Grand Lodge of England. The Society does not, however, constitute another interesting degree in Freemasonry, to be acquired in the course of Masonic progress. It is something beyond and outside Freemasonry.

The Society is Organized into nine grades, each having its appropriate ritual. In addition to working the ceremonies, members are encouraged to read original papers/books or other suitable works and to join in discussions which arise in the College itself.

Thus the object of the S.R.I.A. is to bring together Freemasons of a philosophic outlook in order that they may aid and encourage each other in the pursuit of their studies in the field of philosophy and scholarship in the widest sense.

Admission into the Society is limited to Master Masons who are subscribing members of a Lodge under the United Grand Lodge of England or the jurisdiction in amity with Grand Lodge and who accept and believe in the fundamental principles of the Trinitarian Christian Faith. A candidate proposed and seconded by members of the Society is elected by ballot.

S.R.I.A. Colleges are established throughout England, Europe and the Commonwealth and is independent of but closely associated with its sister Society in Scotland.

Still interested? WELL THERE IS A COLLEGE NEAR YOU, one in fact which meets in the Masonic Hall in Warrington three time a year i.e. on the third Tuesday in February, first Tuesday in June (I) and third Friday in November.

If you are the kind of Mason who wants to expand your knowledge, mind and studies, then apply to join at Mersey College S.R.I.A. in Warrington. To assist new members in the learning process we are even introducing a distance learning course and study group.

Application forms can be obtained from the College Secretary Alan Blackstone by telephoning 01925 487427.
